Meet Laurie

My photographs capture the ever changing natural world around us including four seasons of life on the coast of Maine as well as the small Caribbean island where I lived for 10 years. My focus is on photographic art as well as photojournalistic essays and multimedia work with cultural and environmental projects and one of my many passions, blues music and its musicians. I enjoy using reflections in my work and consider my art successful if the viewer wants to become part of the photograph, even if only for the short amount of time it took for the shutter to capture the moment.

My films are documentary in nature, and are meant to make the mind wander down paths unexplored.

I have participated in the Maine Photography Show, am a member of River Arts and the Boothbay Region Art Foundation, and have had several works published. I teach Photography at the Boothbay Region Land Trust, and am active in several organizations working with environmental and conservation issues.Laurie Knowlton
